April 23, 2008: That is the Day Hillary Should Call it Quits!

I have been enthralled in the political election.  I must admit, I was much more optimistic and energetic about the race back on the first Super Tuesday.  But, as the race goes on, I keep checking CNN.com on my iPhone, hoping for some nugget of news that will provide some sort of prediction. Will Barack Obama finally bring the tide all the way over to his side?  What did Hillary Clinton say this time that made her look like a complete jerk? Whose sister’s brother’s distant relatives school teacher made a racist comment on youtube?

What I am finding instead is that the news has no new news, so they need to create news.  I am also finding that, particularly, Hillary Clinton, has nothing new to say–so the creation of issues is needed to keep up the media attention. A lot of coverage about how this extended primary has focused on how it will hurt the democratic party.  It is giving the republicans the edge and focus they need to nail the general election in November. But I think the extended Democratic Primary is really vetting out what we actually might get in the White House.

Back a few months ago, I was an avid Obama supporter and I still am.  But, I would have been fine with Clinton getting the spot.  I felt, I had really great choices and no matter how it went, the Democrats were going to be on top.  But, this extended primary election has proven to me that Senator Clinton is a typical charicature of a typical politician who is enormously insecure and is too quick to speak up to get attention.  This extended election has proven to me that Hillary Clinton (counter to her experience message) lacks the leadership and character to be a great president. She has fallen on her own sword and created a spectical of herself for all to see.

It is time, Senator Clinton.  It is time to step down from the race. Let April 22, 2008 be the confirmation you need that you in no way can win and that Senator Obama is the rightful Democratic candidate.  Step down for your self respect and for the respect of your party.
