Hillary Clinton Can’t Beat John McCain

McCain will beat Hillary. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Does McCain have a shot at beating Obama? Definitely. But Hillary Clinton doesn’t stand a chance against McCain.

A lot of attention has been drawn towards Clinton and Obama lately. McCain is doing what he does best: being a likable politician. Unless you’re George W. Bush on the campaign trail, you don’t have many bad things to say about John McCain. After all, he’s the senator from Arizona. There’s nothing really wrong with Arizona, agreed?

The major political winds would almost make it seem like the presidential election is really taking place right now. As if the primary between Hillary and Barack is the “real” election. This couldn’t be further from the truth because Hillary can’t beat John McCain. In fact, unless it was Pee Wee Herman with the Republican nomination, Hillary Clinton would not win. Why?

On the surface, it might look good to have Hillary in office. After all, she’s a female. First female president would be nice, right? She’s got to get most of the woman vote, right? Well, Oprah pretty much disproved that theory.

Still, there is one major issue that is far greater than any of Hillary’s policies that will keep her from beating John McCain. She is the wife of former President Bill Clinton who succeeded George H. W. Bush and was succeeded by George W. Bush. If Hillary was to run against John McCain, the Bush/Clinton Dynasty would become the single largest deciding factor in the political arena.

There will be considerable backlash to having 24 years of just two families running the United States. This idea first started to surface when Hillary started to talk about running for President. It stepped up a notch when The Economist ran a cover story about the pitfall of the “First Female President”: dynasty.

People can argue to the death that family ties are critical in political elections. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time that family members ran the country. The Adams family did it (badadada click click). The Harrisons did it (not to be confused with Harrison Ford in Air Force One). And so did my two Georges.

The major difference is that they didn’t do it all one right after the other and team up with another family. They didn’t do it during a time when 40% of the American population had never lived during a time without one of their families in the White House (according to the Associated Press). We aren’t talking about Franklin Roosevelt times either. While we are fighting a “war on terror”, it can hardly be compared to the horror of World War II. We don’t need the same family(ies) in the White House for three decades in a row.

This is why Hillary has no chance of beating McCain. Any high from winning a Democratic nomination will quickly evaporate as people turn on the heat about American political dynasty. Two families ruling the US for nearly two generations in a row.
